Conservation Projects Building a Better Future
From early warning systems to community training programs, our projects are creating tangible change across the Bomet-Mara border. Each initiative is designed with local communities at the center, ensuring lasting impact for both people and wildlife.

Active Conservation Initiatives
Human–wildlife conflict is not only a conservation issue, it is an economic one in this region. Many families depend on river-based activities for survival, placing them daily inside active hippo and crocodile habitats.
Reducing risk by replacing It
Alternative Livelihoods Programs
WCT’s Alternative Livelihoods program addresses the root cause of conflict by providing alternative and safer sources of income. Rather than asking communities to avoid dangerous areas without options, we replace high-risk livelihoods with viable economic alternatives.
Together, these initiatives:
Reduce daily exposure to dangerous wildlife zones
Stabilize household income
Strengthen community support for conservation
Transform coexistence from a concept into daily living
Each project is designed not as short-term aid, but as a sustainable pathway away from risk, toward resilience.
